Online Courses
Online courses are available free of charge in the Child Passenger Safety Learning Portal.
Group Delivery Option
Organizations that want to use these courses for staff development can request a Group Administration account. Designated group administrators can register staff, monitor course progress and download completion certificates.
Car Seat Basics: Learn to keep children safe in cars as they grow by completing all or specific modules on rear-facing and forward-facing car seat use, as well as booster seat and seat belt use. Take this training.
Car Seat Basics for Law Enforcement: Designed specifically for law enforcement officers to equip them with knowledge to
- take an active role in assessing car seat use according to evidence-based best practices,
- talk to caregivers about child passenger safety, and
- share child passenger safety local and national resources with caregivers—all within the context of regular officer duties.
School Bus Learning Library: Complete individual modules of the Child Passenger Safety on School Buses National Training providing the opportunity to build knowledge on topics specific to transporting children on school buses. Explore the available modules.
In-Person Trainings
Child Passenger Safety Technician Certification Training: This standardized curriculum provides in-depth training on the correct use of car seats, booster seats, seat belts and vehicle safety systems. Successful completion results in U.S. certification as a Child Passenger Safety Technician for two years. In-person and hybrid delivery formats are available. This is a fee-based training. Child Passenger Safety on School Buses National Training: This standardized training provides an overview of the use of child safety restraint systems on school buses, with a focus on preschool-aged children and children with disabilities. Instructional videos are incorporated throughout the training. Participants are provided time for hands-on practice. Find a course near you!

Does your organization transport children with specific transportation needs?
CPSTs who are trained in the safe transportation of children with special needs are available to assist with questions.
Virtual Assistance: Schedule a virtual car seat check with Safety Connection Virtual Services. Select the Adaptive Car Seat Installation Education service at booking.
In-Person Assistance: Search for a CPST by using the Find A Tech query. Select Safe Travel for All Children in the Extra Training box.
